How to Set Printer Password in Windows 10

Shenan Stanley

Is the printer on the network?

Directly attached to your computer?  (Shared out from your computer?!)

Have you looked through the manual for the printer?  It may have a way to do this.

What is the Make/Model of the printer in question?

No the printer isn't attached to a network. It is directly connected to PC.  I've read trough the manual of the printer, but it doesn't have this type of function. The printer isCanon LBP 3200.

Sounds like the printer is shared on your computer, and she is using it as such. If so, remove the share. And, why aren't you telling her to leave it alone? Why not report it to your supervisor.

Is it shared out?  If so - does it need to be?  If not - stop sharing it.

If not - this is a PHYSICAL issue.  Is this person disconnecting the printer from your computer and connecting it to theirs?

Why did you need a personal printer and did your IT support approve it?

If your PC is connected to a network (even though the printer is not), then remove the share, as No Mo suggests.  And, as No Mo also suggested, what about the direct approach?

If your PC is not connected to the network, then use a password for all user accounts on your PC.

If all your computer's user accounts are already password protected, then the unauthorized user must be physically disconnecting the printer from your computer and connecting it to hers in order to print.  In that case, buy one of these (no, it's not free):  Power Plug Locks
